History: In 1967, the Alexander Friends of the Library was organized as a support group for the newly-opened Alexander County Library. There were 57 charter members.
Mission: In cooperation with the library, the Alexander Friends of the Library shall promote the cultural life of the community by being advocates for the library. Through publicity and financial assistance, the Friends shall assist in providing a diversity of programs and materials to reach all people of Alexander County.
Meetings: The Friends meet four times a year on the second Tuesday of January, April, July, and October in the library in Taylorsville at 4:00pm.
Membership: is open to all people who love the library! Pick up an application at the library or print one from this link:
There are six levels of membership depending on a person’s choice.
The dues you pay support the library in a variety of ways. Here are just a few examples of what has been accomplished with dues: Support for the children’s summer reading program; the teen book club and poetry and arts club; the “Read to Me” early literacy program; books, ebooks, online resources, and equipment for the library to supplement the library’s budget. We provide an awesome group of volunteers: book sale members, basket makers, event refreshments, and officers who work throughout the year. Join us; you will make friends and have fun!
