Alexander County Library & Bethlehem Branch Gear Up For Summer Reading
Summertime reading is on the way! Here’s your chance to kick back with a great book
and get lost in the pages. The library’s summer reading theme this year is “Make A
Splash – READ!” and your Alexander County libraries are here to help you do just that.
When?
Make A Splash will begin on Sunday, June 20 and will run until Saturday, August 14.
That’s 8 weeks of reading fun to keep your brain sharp!
What do I have to do?
You will be asked to read at least 15 minutes per day. Then, total how much time you
spend reading each week during the summer. You can report your time once a week to
the library by phone, e-mail or stop by when you get new books. You can read anything
– books, Internet articles, magazines – just read!
What do I get for doing the summer reading program?
1) Awesomely wet programs that will be happening all summer long!
2) You’ll receive a goody bag with this year’s cup and other items like McDonald’s
coupons.
3) AND, most importantly, your brain won’t rot over summer vacation! We will
provide you with a reading certificate to prove it.
What does it cost?
The program and all the events are absolutely free.
When do I sign up? And where?
You can sign up NOW at either the main library or the Bethlehem branch. The kickoff
will be on Friday, June 25 at the main library. There will be a SPLASH ZONE
(including a dunking booth and a pitch burst) and doughnuts for the whole family. The
event will be from 10 am – 12 pm.
If you have any questions, contact Miss Mel, the children’s librarian at the main library,
at 632-4058.
