Teen Programs
Creativity and learning opportunities abound for teens in Alexander County with the various teen programs available in which to participate.
YAYA – Open to high school students, the young adult book club offers a cohesive group of voracious readers. Can you imagine a day without reading? Do you consider reading as important as food? Then this is the club for you!
Teen Poetry Happens – A collaboration of the library and Alexander County Schools, TPH is open to all high school students in the county. TPH challenges teens to create using the pen, art tools, and/or cameras. Monthly meetings at Taylorsville Presbyterian during the school year are inspiring!
Lockins – Open to 7th grade and older teens, lockins usually revolve around a certain book or teen theme. Food, fun activities, and connection with teens (locally and many times from all over the United States) are the main focus.

The Alexander Muse – Each year, this teen magazine features outstanding works of art, photography, poetry and prose by residents of the co
unty – no matter where they are receiving their education (homeschool, private , alternative, boarding or out of county public schools). The Alexander Muse is a collaborative effort of Alexander County Schools and Alexander County Library.
